Sydney strongly believes in the power of experience and connection. With her passion for travel and telling the stories of underrepresented communities, her purpose lies within the tension of blending cultures and understanding the other. She strives to tell tough stories with an objective, empathetic and kind approach. You can find her work on Times of San Diego, The Point Student News, Hawaii News Now and The Sun-Gazette.
She served as editor in chief of Point Loma Nazarene University's student-run newspaper, The Point. She is a current intern for the San Diego Union-Tribune.
When she's not with a paper, pen or camera, you might find her by the ocean, drinking a latte, reading her Bible or watching a comfort film. She has been to New Zealand, Hawaii and the Marshall Islands – where her mom is from – which drives her passion for ethnicity reporting.
